Dmitry Tereshenko, M.A. (Candidate)

I am a creative problem solver that's invested in using language-based insights to better the world around me. As a linguist and discourse analyst, I have a unique perspective into how language shapes our interactions with people, systems, and products. Throughout my professional and academic career, I have explored human-human and human-computer interaction (HCI), specializing in the unique intersection of how digital technologies mediate our communication in virtual spaces.

I’m energized by meaningful connection and hold strongly to the value of diversity in every space that I occupy. I am a proud first-generation college graduate with the hope of empowering other individuals that come from non-traditional molds of success. In my personal and professional roles, I aim to continually push boundaries as a means to facilitate growth towards equitably-oriented solutions and programing, bridging institutional gaps that reinforce systematic inequities.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), as a Levine Scholar, the university’s premier merit-based scholarship program, with degrees in Language and Digital Technology and Applied Anthropology. In my 30,040 hours being a UNC Charlotte 49er, I blossomed into the globally minded and civically engaged thought leader that I am today. I am entering the second year of my Master’s program in Linguistics at Georgetown University. Outside of my academic obligations, I work, on a contract basis, in medical linguistic, education, and tech consulting roles. I also volunteer on the Levine Alumni Council, as a member of the Technology and Operations Committee, spearheading initiatives to conduct research and develop programming in order to support graduating scholars and alumni in their transitionary experiences to post-graduation opportunities. Following my graduation in May 2023, I hope to step into a full-time position in user-experience research (UXR) to combine my passions for bridging inequities with my creative out-of-the-box research skills.
